Okay everyone, the build-out begins! Here is the first item for the new rig: a TruckVault now under construction in Sedro Wolley, Washington. I’ve got on in our Chevy Tahoe, had one in the last pickup, and can’t wait to get this one into the new Dodge. That’s the blueprint for it, on your left.

TruckVaults are incredible tools: secure storage, beautiful to look at, and fully functional. They allow you to put your gear in one handy place, and leave it there, secure in the knowledge no bad guys can get at it. In fact, most times, they won’t even know you have one! I leave all my hunting stuff in there throughout the season, swap it out for fishing in the spring. This year, one drawer is devoted to dog training for Manny’s upcoming hunt tests. _09B7366Just had to share the great work of one of my friends … Mike Houska is a fantastic photographer … so good, you’ll soon see his work on the cover of a Cabela’s catalog. He asked to shoot still photos of Buddy and me while we were videotaping upcoming “Buddy & Me” segments for the new TV show Wingshooting USA and how could I say no?

So, here you have one example of a behind-the-camera shot from behind TWO cameras … still camera ably handled by Mike, and HD video by my director Tad Newberry! Be grateful Buddy’s in focus and I’m not!

[Update: if you just got the Cabela’s Fall Preview catalog and thought “deja vu,” you’re right. It’s the shot I’m alluding to above … which is a pretty cool composition, being as it is much like this one but with a pheasant in the foreground looking nervous. PS: last night I met the guy in the picture at our dog club meeting!]
