The Awesome Upland Road Trip, Day Two:
Cooler, overcast, so the dogs were happy. Terry’s shorthairs produced ringnecks and bobwhites all morning, tramping through the milo and goldenrod strips, sycamore groves and oaks with a spring in their (four each) steps. The overcast soon rang with thunder, and by three o’clock a few drops blurred the camera lenses. Buddy got a run, making two elegant finds in the trees (I missed, Roger hit). Then, a back-and-forth search/track in the tall silage milo put up another bobwhite for Roger (we took his word for it – he was invisible to us through the vegetation). Buddy closed the deal with a sweet retrieve. Thanks to everyone at Harpole’s Heartland Lodge! Here are some behind-the-scenes shots:
The Aliner looks good.
Works well, too. Lots of storage, even for a TV crew.
