Deutsch-Drahthaar They never get cold, crash the cattails like a D-8, point at distance and retrieve everything. Mine is steady to wing shot and fall at 18 months. Because mine has a tight coat no tangles or briars. I have owned five Shorthairs and three Wirehairs but this Draht is smarter, and has the best personality and temperament of any dog I have owned. I just watched your show on sage grouse and would love to try it. How can I get more info on where to go? My dog of choice is a Gordon Setter. The ones I have had are great hunters and more importantly awesome family dogs. Don’t get me wrong I love short hairs but prefer the setters.
Hey John, I would go straight to the source: Al Gadoury. You can walk a long way for no birds without some local intelligence. Visit his site: http://www.6xoutfitters.com/ and good luck!
Scott,
I have a great Golden that has thousands of birds she has retreved. Ducks, Grouse, Quail, Phesant if the bird is in the are she will findit.
She is a flusher, and will respect the pointing dogs point. pointers, Boring.. in Open space big areas Dakotas,
bring in a flushing dog and wake up the crew.

What a wonderful world … where we can pick our favorite breed or they can pick us!
