Just barely needed a work-in; I'm impressed so far. A chukar hunt will be the true test of the new DSS sole - distributes impact from every heel strike. On the lava rock, that will be MOST appreciated.

PS: You're now entered in the random drawing.

Scott: good to see you almost on the road. I'm surprised your Irish Setters needed much breaking in at all. I've owned several pairs of Setter boots and have loved them all. Currently I have two pairs of 855s -- the side-zip upland boot -- one pair is about three years old and has had one resole already, the other pair are maybe a year old but are my 'good' boots. I use the old ones for training days, hunt tests, and field trials -- the new ones are reserved for actual hunting. We live in downstate NY, and the old boots are already scheduled to make appearances in MA, CT, NJ, and VA. For now, the new boots will get most of their use in NY -- but they'll get re-proofed in preparation for what should be a glorious trip for ruffed grouse in ME.

I've tried other boots, but always come back my Irish Setters.

best of luck
